Man o man - had a scary experience today. I was heading home from work today and it had been raining for a few hours. Either someone dumped some oil or something on the street (cause I could smell petrol) or the rain had washed the oil into a long slick to the point where my tires lost traction near the bottom of a long hill. Bike went down with me and I skidded on my stomach for about ten feet. Thankfully, I was wearing all my gear cause all I have to show for it is a nasty little road-burn on my elbow - no broken bones. Woooeeeee. When I got back up I got the bike back up and guess what? started right back up again.
Bummed me out to look at my bike though. Something is wrong with the left side turn signal now cause it flashes quicker. I bent the left footpeg sideways and I also bent the junction where the handlebars meet the top of the fork. Nothing too horrible! Could have been worse and now I have an excuse to get rid of those dorky stock handlebars.
In the meantime though - does anyone have that brace that hold the handlebars to the fork? Can't really ride again till it gets replaced along with the footpeg.
Front tire feels a little low on air too - wondering about putting a metzler up there. For those who have the Metzlers on their savages, how do they handle in the wet?
On the psychological front - now wondering if getting back on the bike is totally worth it. How did the rest of you guys who got back on the saddle again deal with the fear of falling again?
I think I'll be getting back on soon though - just as soon as I get better tires and maybe some magic charms.
Safe Riding!
